Johnson & Friends – The Fancy Dress
Costume Idea From The Wizard Of Oz: Cowardly Lion Costume
Personally, I love the Cowardly Lion character from the Wizard of Oz as a Halloween costume. This king of the beasts, unluckily, has become timid and when he meets up with Dorothy, asks if he can join her and her comrades to ask the Wizard of Oz for courage. Yet, the lion does display some bravery on the journey to the Wizard.
Because of the dual nature of the cowardly lion (cowardly and courageous), it would be a wonderful costume for Halloween. You could pretend to be fearful and then display the courageous roaring of the king of the jungle!
If you want some pointers, check out my cowardly lion costume site. For the children there are some really cute looking all-in-one lion outfits with a character headpiece. There is a really evil looking Wicked of Oz costume for adults. It has a shirt spattered with blood, a scruffy mane and a rabid lion mask. The claws are bloody also. This costume may give some timid people nightmares! If you ladies want to attract the men, there are some very sexy cowardly lion costumes.
If you’re attempting to save money and are somewhat creative you can surely put together your own outfit. An easy way to make a costume is to start with a light-brown sweat suit. From that starting point you can stick on or sew some brown felt on the belly. For the tail you could use a rope or a long strip of fur attached to the back. You can either use a brown pull on hat and sew two ear-shaped pieces of brown fur or felt to it or for the ladies, attach them to an alice band for a slightly more sophisticated look. To complete it add a pair of brown boots or shoes and a pair of brown furry looking mittens or gloves. Paint your face with some face paints to complete the lion look!
